Comparing Airlines On Cheap Air Tickets For Students

Whenever students have to fly in any country, it is natural for them to search for the student deals. Since some airlines do offer student flight deals on regular basis and the word goes around globally that airlines offer deals to students, they search for these inevitably. The cheap student flights are provided by way of reduction in the airfares or by way of offering more check-in baggage allowances. Some airlines have specifically provided the students check-in box in search engine to help them search flights with discounted fares on regular basis. These airlines have clearly identified certain passengers segments for offering cheap air tickets and students are one of these. Asian and European carriers have this feature right in their search engine box.

American carriers, such as United Airlines, are not known for these offers. Whether students or military personnel, direct discounts on fares is hardly on offer anytime during the year for them. While there is excess baggage allowance for military, no such offer is provided to students. United contends that it is providing United Airlines reservations at such a low fare that there is not much scope for reduction in prices any further. The best it and other airlines can do is to provide them enhanced free baggage allowances.

The foreign airlines which do provide these special deals are limited and can be counted on fingers. Indian carrier Jet Airways has an edujetter program and Air India has Maharaja Scholarship program, Malaysia Airlines has the MHExplorer program and China Eastern allows for extra check-in baggage allowances. These are some of the few instances known. All these benefits reduce the overall cost of travel and cheap student flights become a reality which allows them to travel even on small budget.

It is not easy to say whether, by not providing the low airfare tickets, what benefit accrues to the airline. From a common person perspective, this is a lost opportunity as the airline does not factor in the future customers.

United Airlines Suspends Flights to India, Enters into Codeshare Agreement with Vistara

United Airlines is one of the four major airlines of United States of America. The airline is a legacy carrier which offers different cabin classes of services. United Airlines operates flights to India, from Newark to Delhi and Mumbai. This service has been suspended for now.

As per the airline, this is because of two reasons. One, the developments in Middle East due to the Iran turmoil where there is a war-like scenario developing. Secondly, the closure of Pakistan airspace due to which the airline had to take a detour to reach its destinations in India.

While the airline has suspended its flight services from Newark to Mumbai and Delhi, United has also entered into a codeshare agreement with the Indian carrier, Vistara. Now the airline will be able to add its code to the Vistara flights. Vistara currently operates domestic flights only as it is barred from operating international flights due to a rather infamous 5/20 rule.

As per this rule, a new airline has to operate domestic flights for 5 years before it launches into the international sector and it must have a fleet of 20 airplanes for flying on international sector. However, a codeshare agreement with UA, will enable the airline to have international passengers from US flying to various destinations it covers.

The agreement will allow passengers who have done United Airlines Reservations to fly to 20 different destinations in India where Vistara flies to. In the wake of another private carrier, Jet Airways, having gone defunct, this agreement will allow people from US to reach to 20 Indian cities with ease. This will be a welcome respite.
People are expecting UA to resume its direct flight service at the earliest possible time.

Dog and Cat Breeds Banned by United Airlines

One of the major airlines in US, United Airlines, has banned around 21 breeds of dog and cat in their Pet Safe program which was partnered with American Humane. This step was taken to enhance the safety and care of the animal while transportation. These steps are important because of a high number of animal deaths reported on United Flights early last year. So, the next time you decide to book United Airlines flight for your pet, please refer to the banned breeds given below.

Usually, the military charter is used to transport animals but it has a very limited number of facility and at a time only 20 spaces which comprise of 10 for large pets and 10 for small animals. These military charter can cost anywhere from $250 to $325. In commercial flights, the cost could go up to about $32,000. This ban has affected many passengers and military service members with pets. In one of the posts of a national newspaper, it was reported that United Airlines had the highest number of animal deaths in 2015-2017. One of the main reasons for these deaths can be because it was the only airline transporting most of the animals out of the other popular American carriers.

If you consider flying with pets then keep some of the things in mind. Prepare your pet for flying before 30 days and get a health certificate before you plan to travel. This certificate of fitness has to be produced to the airline before the trip. Help your pet to become comfortable with its crate. Take your pet in the crate and travel to shopping and market so that it feels comfortable in its crate. It helps your pet to feel the crate as its second home.
