Philippine Airlines is one of the major airlines of Far East
Asia- Pacific region. It was established in the year 1935 but commenced
operations six years later. The airline has been focusing on increasingly on
regional connectivity. In pursuance of this policy, the airline has started off
its direct flight to Phnom Penh from Manila.
The launch of this flight will
further enhance the tourism and trade relations between two capital cities. PAL
had started the direct flights to Siem Reap in Cambodia from Cebu in 2012. This
current new direct flight has come after a gap of 7 years.
It is interesting to note Philippine airlines reservations
is done by almost 80000 people from Philippines to Cambodia annually but the
same numbers are not reciprocated from Cambodia to Philippines.
There is an
expectation that this new flight will see an increase in air traffic from
Cambodia to Philippines dramatically within a short span of time. Much will
depend on the airfares and cabin service of the airline.
The airline will fly 5 times a week (not on Mondays and
Thursdays). Phnom Penh flight will leave at 12:45AM and reach Manila airport at
4:20 AM. The return flight will fly from Manila in night at 10:10 PM to reach
Phnom Penh at 1:45 AM. The airplane which will fly on this route will be 156-seater
A320.
This will also be the first direct flight from Phnom Pneh to
Manila. All other flights are connecting flights and these have at least one
stop at the major hub of that airline in the region. This will put at ease flight tickets booking and travel between two cities.
In this region of South-east Asia, the airline reaches
Vietnam, besides Cambodia. In Vietnam, it connect Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
