When Turkish Airlines opted to go for the TSA Pre Screening,
many would have doubted the efficacy of the move. However, the airline is known
to welcome and accept all such measures and policies which can reduce the
burden of passengers and make travel a hassles-free experience for them. Thus,
adopting the TSA Pre screening would have made flying on it more secure and
less problematic for passengers. When passengers are themselves going for those
airlines which have adopted this program, how can Turkish be left behind. It is
notable that for passengers flying from USA, Turkish Airlines is one of the
most preferred foreign carriers.
So, what is the TSA Pre screening program? Basically, the
Department of Homeland Security notifies
certain passengers to be trusted travelers and they are given this
certification. All such travelers get certain benefits at the airports. This
includes expedited screening at the US airports. These passengers are also not
required to remove their light jackets, shoes and belts. Passengers are also
allowed to carry their 3-1-1 complaint liquids and laptops in cabin baggage.
Similarly, children of less than 12 years of age and flying in the company of a
parent or guardian are also screened expeditiously.
The passengers are given a Known Traveler Number which must
be added while doing the Turkish airlines reservations. This can be done either
at kiosk or at the check-in counters of the airline. The biggest benefit of
using this program is that the screening gets over within 5 minutes for a
person on an average basis.
