The Must visit Tourist Places Of New Delhi

New Delhi is the capital of India which is very rich in history and culture. New Delhi is the land of delicious food, incredible people and many amazing experiences. It is the only city in the world with a unique distinction of having not one but three UNESCO World Heritage sites within its boundaries. 1) Qutab Minar
Standing at a height of 240 feet and was established in 1192 was one of Delhi's top attraction and a renowned UNESCO world heritage site. This minaret was named after its creator Qutb-ud-din Aibak. The five-story tower is built with marble and red stone and the spiral staircase has around 379 steps to the top of the minaret which was closed to the public since 1974.



2) Lotus Temple
Lotus Temple or also known as Baha’i House of worship was named because of its shape and design was Delhi’s most recognized and visited structures. The temple consists of 27 massive marble petals shaped like an unfolding lotus flower which was entirely made of pure marble which is considered as the universal symbol of peace. It is open to all caste and creeds and is an ideal place for those who wish to meditate and pray.


3) India Gate
It is dedicated to the 82,000 soldiers who lost their lives in the First World War and Afghan war is one of the iconic and historic landmarks of New Delhi. This 42-meter high monument looks magnificent in the evening when it is lit up and the beautiful fountains with the soldiers standing at the monument give the place a truly magical look. The main attraction is the Amar Jawan Jyoti, the flame which stays alight 24*7 in the memory of the dyed soldiers.



4) Akshardham temple
Considered as one of the largest Hindu temples in the world is rich with architectural beauty and the decoration of the area will make you spellbound. It is a place of worship with many exhibits, lush gardens, boat rides and the most famous water show with laser light in the evening. The saddest part about this place is that you cannot capture the moments with your loved ones as photography is strictly prohibited inside the temple.


5) Humayun’s Tomb
Another UNESCO world heritage site Humayun’s Tomb was built for Mughal emperor Humayun in the 16th century by his first wife Haji Begum. At the entrance, you will find a museum which showcases the history and other relevant information about this tomb. You will also find marble tombs of few other Mughal rulers.


6) Red Fort
It was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the year 1648 is now a UNESCO heritage site. Every year on 15th August the current prime minister of India hosts the National flag of India from the Red Fort as a symbol to mark the celebration of Independence Day. Next to the Red Fort is the Chandni Chowk market which is famous for its street food and traditional items.


7) Jama Masjid
Around 5000 workers were employed by Shah Jahan to construct India's largest mosque in the year 1650 which took 6 years to complete. It is an iconic landmark of Old Delhi and an important place to worship which can hold up to 25,000 people and during the Friday worship prayer, it is a scene to behold. You have to cover up from head to toe while entering this mosque.

8) Connaught Place
Connaught Place is where you will find the young crowd enjoying the famous Food and nightlife. The roundabouts are little confusing and at the same time are overwhelming for the first time visitors. You can enjoy the ride of Delhi metro and the nearest stop to reach Connaught Place is Rajiv Chowk.
